If you're like most people, you're probably wondering if all those letters after a real estate agent's name mean anything to you. They absolutely do! Each set of letters represents a designation the agent has achieved with training and testing to the benefit of their clients.
So let's take a look at what some of the more recognized designations are and what they mean to you:
REALTOR®: Did you know that all real estate agents are not REALTORS®? If a real estate agent is a REALTOR®, they have joined the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) and have subscribed to adhere to a strict Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice in the real estate profession.
ABR stands for Accredited Buyer Representative, and is the mark of excellence in buyer representation. What this means to you is that if your agent has received this designation, they have met special education and practical experience requirements specifically for the purpose of assisting home buyers.
CRS is a Certified Residential Specialist, and is awarded to experienced agents who have completed advanced training in listing and selling, and who meet rigorous production requirements. What does this mean to you? An agent with this designation has proven they have the training, experience and committment to be the best in their profession. Additionally, if you\'re moving to another state, a CRS designee will find a professional with the same amount of experience, training in that area to care for you as they would themselves.
GRI is a Graduate REALTOR® Institute and are nationally known as top performers in the real estate industry. They have a keen understanding of the real estate business, are professional trained, and dedicated to providing quality service.
ePRO certified agents are those who have completed a training program for real estate agents and brokers to teach them how best to use technology and the internet in their real estate business. Once completed, they are certified as Internet Professionals.
SRES is a Seniors Real Estate Specialist designation. Agents with this designation have been trained and have the expertise to counsel clients that are 55 years of age and older in financial and lifestyle transactions associated with relocation, financing and selling a home.
