So What School District is This House In?

If you are new to Pennsylvania, one of the challenges may be to understand how school districts and towns relate to one another. Let's see if I can clarify things.

Pennsylvania is a state that is divided into counties. These counties are divided into townships or boroughs. Schools districts can contain a combination of from one to nine townships and/or boroughs in our tri-county area alone.

A town - or zip code - can have one or more school districts within it. So, if you have a friend or acquaintance who says you should look for a home in Wayne, Newtown Square, Exton, Bryn Mawr, or Chester Springs to mention just a few, you need to know that there's more than one school district possible in those towns.

So, what's the easiest way to know? Your REALTOR® can provide you with a list of townships in each school district. Or, ask me, and I will send you a copy of a local map with school districts highlighted and identified for you.
